Description
Patrimonio Nacional is promoting a new initiative that will allow the public to access the most spectacular architectural restoration projects being carried out at the Royal Sites. The Cascada Fountain will be the first site to feature in ‘Open for Restoration’, a programme of guided tours that combines the experience of seeing a site undergoing renovation with technical explanations from staff familiar with the work. Designed in the 18th century during the reign of Philip V, this majestic Baroque fountain stands out for its sculptural grandeur and ingenious hydraulic system, which still works using the original gravity of the period. Accompanied by a Cultural Heritage guide, you will discover the secrets of its restoration, the historical materials used and the techniques that guarantee its preservation.
