Description
Calling all families! We are looking for the most skilled team of builders in history.
Can you imagine traveling back to the 16th century and becoming Philip II's trusted architects? On the occasion of the 5th centenary of his birth, we invite you to this guided tour and workshop at the Monastery of El Escorial.
First, we'll explore part of the Monastery alongside our educational team, who will reveal the best-kept secrets of the era. You'll discover Philip II's role in creating the Royal Sites network, his influence on the architecture and urban planning of his time, why Madrid became the capital, and what makes this building so special.
Then, time to get to work! In the workshop, each family must prove they deserve to join the king's guild of master builders and draftsmen. Your mission will be to construct a part of the so-called "eighth wonder of the world," such as a tower with its spire or even the facade. You'll also complete the official technical sheet detailing materials, tools, the purpose of each space, and construction timelines.
