Description
On this special tour, we will dive deep into the Islamic wall of Madrid, now part of the Royal Collections Gallery. You will get to see how everything works, from the pre-excavation documentation, the methods chosen and the reasons behind them, to the inventory and cataloguing of the findings that piece the history together. We will also perform an archaeological analysis of the walls to identify their different building phases. Additionally, as the main highlight of this tour, we will be exploring a restricted area of the wall, usually closed to the public. Álvaro Soler, Head of the Royal Armoury Department at the Royal Palace of Madrid and a medievalist specializing in this period’s archaeology, will guide us through it all.
