Family workshop visit: Setting up the Nativity Scene
Setting up the nativity scene is one of the most important Christmas traditions in many of our homes. On this occasion, and taking advantage of the fact that Christmas is a time to enjoy with the family, we are going to have the opportunity to get to know the Nativity Scene of the Prince of the Royal Palace.
In this activity we will discover the importance of this crib and through the figures of shepherds, water carriers and washerwomen, and the materials and techniques used to make it. In addition, we will understand the role played by Charles III and his son, Charles IV, in the establishment of this Christmas tradition in Spain and which are the fundamental pieces of the Neapolitan nativity scenes.
In the workshop, we will become real artists to create a nativity scene with recycled materials from the workshops of the Royal Palace. This activity will also help us to talk about responsible production and consumption, one of the Sustainable Development Goals promoted by the United Nations.
